About the Sculptor. International Award winning sculptor Syd Breeze has been sculpturing for the past 45 years. He first gain recognition with his unique style and detailed work by winning an American based competition as Judged by Solid Citizen magazine for his Concrete Garden Sculpture - 'Grunta' Gargoyle.

Syd has worked with pottery, bronze, wood and concrete. He began sculputuring from clay making these into moulds and turned this into a full-time business with his wife Lynda -Stone Talk Limited in 1997, producing Meerkats, gargoyles, wolf, Pukeko, Takahe, Kiwi and later modular water features. After selling this business, Syd started with sculpturing indoor wall hanging designs made of poly resin - These popular sculputres of Tuatara, Geckos, fish hook, koru, designer clocks were supplied to gift shops around New Zealand and Australia. This popular range was finished in a bronze antique finish inlayed with paua. After 7 years Syd had a break and has recently rekindled his passion for creating artwork.

Numerous articles have been written on his designs in New Zealand, Australia and America. Syd's latest range uses mainly wood and copper, and soon developing into steel.

A strong New Zealand element embodies this new range, incorporating the roots of New Zealand historical icons such as the Koru fern, Kowhai, Tui, Nikau, Manuka, Piwakawaka plus others. Each piece is hand carved Pine and cut copper added or other final touches such as paua, steel etc, depending on the piece.

Syd also upcycles rustic wood to create side tables, butcher's blocks and other products.

Syd has been commissioned for pieces both large and small, from one off pieces to limited editions and has been approached by a few New Zealand museums for commissioned works.
